Summer Family Activities at International Bomber Command Centre

Join us here at the IBCC for summer family activities through the summer, from pop-up family activities, to WW2 animal heroes puppet making, Salute to 1940s weekend, classic cars and much more! All events are FREE except puppet making on 5th August. 

Pop-up Family Activities

Are you looking for some fun activities to entertain the kids this summer holiday? We would love to see you here at the IBCC for one of our ‘pop-up’ family activity events in the atrium. Crafts, jigsaws, trails and dressing up available free of charge between 11am - 3pm. 

  • Saturday 23rd July, Saturday 30th July, Thursday 18th August, Monday 29th August (Bank Holiday)
  • 11am - 3pm



WW2 Animal Heroes Puppet Making Workshop

  • Friday 5th August
  • 10.30am - 12pm

Have you heard of Antis, the incredible dog who flew with Bomber Command, or Billy the amazing pigeon that was awarded the Dickin medal for outstanding bravery in WW2?  Come along to this fun workshop, during which you will find out more about some of these heroic animals and have the opportunity to use a range of materials and techniques to create your own fantastic animal puppets.  

Workshop suitable for children age 7+. 

Cost

Tickets £5 per child and up to 2 free accompanying adults.  

Tickets must be booked in advance through our website here. 

Children must be accompanied by an adult. 


Family Days Out

Salute to the 40s weekend

  • Saturday 13th & Sunday 14th August
  • 10am - 4pm

There is much to see and do at our Salute to the 40s event.  40s entertainment, music, vintage market stalls, free children's activities and 1940s village fete games.  Re-enactors, vintage vehicles, and lots more.

Wings and Wheels

  • Sunday 4th September
  • 10am - 4.00pm

  • On Saturdays Kids' meals are just £1.00 with every adult meal purchased. 
  • High chairs available in the café. 

Accessibility

  • Easy access for pushchairs and wheelchairs around the exhibition grounds.
  • Changing places toilet.

Parking

  • Large car park.
  • Parking £3.00 per car per day.

Dogs

Assistance dogs are welcome and can accompany visitors throughout all areas of the site. Other dogs are welcomed within the gardens and the atrium.  Please keep dogs on short leads at all times
